- Double-weave Coverlet
Explore Further
Technical notes and description: Cotton warp and wool weft Jacquard double-weave cloth. The eclectic design of this coverlet would seem to be drawn from Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian references. Its central floral snowflake medallion surrounded by a floral wreath is more Western, but with the outer flame-edged scrolls, tall-footed floral bearing urns, and arabesque corner elements, the vocabulary of the East comes into play. The outer border consists of a spiked gallery, fruited sprays, and a more diminutive spiked border.
