Technical notes and description: Cotton and wool warp and weft Jacquard double-weave cloth. This fancy coverlet was woven in one piece from natural cotton and dark indigo, wool yarns on a handloom with an attached Jacquard mechanism. It features a large central medallion radiating out from a leafed central quatrefoil surrounded by floral wreath. A narrow leaf border encompasses the exterior border and frames an inner foliate band from which four corner sprays extend inward. The middle range ground is spotted with random floral sprays. The owner's name is included as part of the inscription (see above).
