DescriptionThis figure, one of a set representing The Four Corners of the Globe, is a personification of Europe. Made in England, the figures represent a distinctly Eurocentric perspective. The cornucopia on the ground represents abundance; objects at her feet suggest the accomplishments of European culture. She holds in her right hand a globe, and the crown on her head signifies Europe’s dominant position among the regions depicted by the figures.
