Description

Technical notes and description: Tabby-weave wool face and back; wool filling; wool thread. The face of this quilt is composed of three panels plus a narrow width piece. It is made of bright pink, probably imported, glazed, worsted fabric. It is patterned in a delightfully idiosyncratic quilting running stitch with a floral center surrounded by four leaf forms, which in turn are surrounded by an over-scale floral and leaf garland and exterior border of half dusters of feathers or leaves. A small female figure is found on the center bottom edge. The background is filled with diagonal lines, and quilting stitches secure pieced mustard wool homespun backing, wool batting filling, and face fabric.
