Fig. 17 Recto, lower left: UNIDENTIFIED collector's stamp (L.632)

Though this mark has been attributed to Corrado Ricci (1858-c. 1935) in the past, it has been ruled out by many scholars, such as Enriquetta Beltrame-Quattrocchi, Roberta J.M. Olson, Simonetta Prosperi Valenti Rodinò, and Francesco Grisolia. It was possibly owned by Egisto Rosso who would have put it on his own collection, but unclear at this point.

Fig. 18 Recto: lower right, possibly J. D. F. FAURE (1780-1859)– L.990 (inscribed in pencil verso)

Joseph-Désiré-Félix Faure, born in Grenoble, was counselor-auditor at the court of this city in 1811, then president of the chamber in 1828. In the same year elected member of the constitutional party. Since 1830 he was first president at the court of Grenoble. Pair of France in 1832. Withdrawn after 1848. Although Fagan cites his mark, no trace of a collection owned by an amateur of that name has been found. Thibaudeau believed in an error by Fagan, and changed the name to Flameng (see mark analogous to L.991).
