Inscriptions, Signatures and Marks
On either side of the rim of each lid is engraved a lion with a banner that reads "Fide et Armis".

There is an arabic number on the underside of the lid, indicating the number of the tureen ("2")
Each tureen has the same five marks--some more legible than others: "P.S" in double oval [see Grimwade 2nd ed., mark #2235, p. 162] / Lion passant facing left, but looking out towards the viewer / Smiling leopard with crown in shield / Letter "O" in square with nipped corners above and cleft below / Monarch with peruke, facing right, in oval .
