DescriptionJohn Fleming Hunt operated the Rusk County, Texas, site from approximately 1889 to 1900. Hunt may have learned the trade from Alexander “Ellick” Brown, who was formerly enslaved at the Taylor Brown pottery.
Provenance[Jon St. Clair, Austin]; purchased by William J. Hill (1934–2018), Houston, 2004; given to MFAH, 2012.
Inscriptions, Signatures and Marks
Unmarked, but there are two lines incised on the upper portion of the body.
