DescriptionThe inscriptions convey benedictory wishes, didactic messages, and wisdom typical of these ceramics. Inscription in the outer band:
Oh, heart, do you see any sign of joy?
And do you see anything fall from the eyes but pearls?
I am happy in the hope of you for as long as I live,
People are all as you see them.
May your wealth and glory always increase,
May your prosperity surpass all limits,
So whatever reaches your palate from this bowl,
Oh, Master of the World, may add to your life.
Inscription on the inner band:
O you whose goal it is for years and months to cause me pain,
Free from me and rejoicing in my sorrow,
You said that you would not break your promise again,
Is this not also your work that afflicts my neck?
