DescriptionJacob Wood and Joseph Hughes, who once worked for the New York City silver firm of William Gale, Sr., formed their own company in 1845, which went on to become a leading silver manufacturer with extensive trade in the American South before the Civil War. This delicate wire basket would have displayed its colorful contents to full advantage.
