DescriptionAt one time, the New York firm of Wood & Hughes was one of the largest manufacturers of silverware in the United States, selling their goods though many retailers throughout the country. During the 1860s and 1870s, flatware with classical portrait medallions stamped onto the handles was quite popular, with many manufacturers producing variations on the theme.
