DescriptionAt the center of this wooden snuffbox is an embossed medallion with a portrait of George Washington. Following Washington’s death in 1799, his image was incorporated in a wide array of objects that commemorated his life and achievements.
Provenance[Louis Lyons, New York]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, July 5, 1961; given to MFAH, by 1966.
