Description

Technical notes and description: Tabby-weave cotton face and back: cotton filling. Forty-two eight-pointed stars of blue and white printed calico form this piecework pattern. The stars are bordered within an applique garland of swags peaking in curved segments. The top center (pillow area) is undecorated, and the individuality of the piece is achieved by the application of two different blue and white sprig prints in the top corners. The diamond ground running stitch quilting is superseded by a garland following concentric lines around the edges.
