Description

Allover repousse decoration reached its height during the second and third quarters of the nineteenth century. While this excess of ornament has long been identified with Baltimore silver, examples such as this vegetable dish bear witness
that it also enjoyed a degree of popularity in other geographic centers.

Technical notes: The dish consists of a foot, bowl, molded rim, lid, and handles. The central handle can be unlocked and removed and the lid used as a second dish.
