DescriptionThe Atterbury Glass Company of Pittsburgh was one of many United States manufacturers that produced an astonishing variety of glass novelties during the late nineteenth century. Covered dishes in the form of chickens, rabbits, and ducks were all popular items. Opaque white and blue glass were among the most common, but glassmakers used many other colors as well.
Provenance[David Rubenstein, Rockland, Maine]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, September 13, 1926; Estate of Miss Ima Hogg; given to MFAH, 1975.
