Description

Originally this diminutive ladle was one of a pair included in an extensive dessert service that also included a dozen ice cream spoons (see B.97.7.1–.4). The stag’s head, where the handle is joined to the bowl, terminates in a classical bust terminal, an unusual configuration.

Technical notes: The bowl is gilded.

Related examples: B.97.7.1–.4 records spoons from the same service.
