DescriptionFrench cartographer Victor Levasseur’s map of North American shows Texas as distinct from the United States, though it had become part of the Union in 1845. The map is notable for its elaborate allegorical border illustrating topography, vegetation, wildlife, and agricultural products, especially cotton.
