DescriptionAs the 1700s drew to a close, glass factories opened in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and would soon open elsewhere in the Midwest as the frontier of European settlement pushed westward. This Midwestern bottle, though made in the 1800s, reflects the influence of the Stiegel glass made in eastern Pennsylvania in the previous century.
Provenance[McKearin's Antiques, New York]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, 1925; given to MFAH, 1969.
