Description

While this late sack-back armchair has rather bland turnings, the knuckled, scrolled arm terminals offer an attractive feature.

Technical notes: Eastern white pine (seat), soft maple (legs, stretchers, arm supports), ash (spindles), red oak (crest rail), white oak (arm rail). The chair is stamped “D W Call” seven times on the underside of the seat, probably the name of an early owner.

Related examples: Evans 1996, p. 310, fig. 6–131.
