DescriptionThe overall configuration of easy chairs continued through the 1700s with relatively little change. This later example, probably from Baltimore or Philadelphia, features the separation of the wings and arms and an overall lightness characteristic of the neoclassical, or federal, style.
Provenance[David Stockwell (1907–1996), Wilmington, Delaware]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, 1961; given to MFAH, by 1966.
