DescriptionUntitled is an enlargement of a 4 x 5 inch negative made as a photogram of a studio construction with a cube. Barbara Kasten, who first trained in textile and sculpture, initially began to use photography as a medium that could extend her three-dimensional art practice. Interested in how the architectonics of space (i.e., architecture and constructed space) could be translated through photography, she makes photographs with and without a camera, both of constructed models in her studio and of actual, built environments.
