[1] According to an accompanying letter by Henry Reeve, the presentation copy was selected and given to his mother, Mrs. Reeve of 3 Well Walk, Hampstead, by the artist who lived nearby at 40 Well Walk; the Reeve family came from the same part of Suffolk as Constable and Mrs. Reeve’s husband, Dr. Reeve, was at Dedham Grammar School together with Constable “about the year 1793.”
