DescriptionThe New York City silver manufacturer Wood and Hughes made the objects in this partial tea service for retail in Mobile, Alabama, by James Conning, and stamped them with Conning’s name and the name of his city. They display familiar elements of the decorative vocabulary of the Rococo Revival: abundant fruit and foliage applied to forms derived from the eighteenth century.
