DescriptionLasting from the 1920s into the 1960s, Hollywood’s golden era was defined by vertically integrated film studios that competed against one another with rosters of the period’s greatest actors. The promotion of individual film stars was key to drawing audiences to movie theaters, and publicity stills of actors found their way into countless consumer products. These lids from containers of Nelson’s Cloverland Ice Cream were produced by the Dixie Cup Company and feature stars from both major studios like Universal, MGM, and Columbia, and minor studios like Monogram.
