(1) Van Parijs was a Brussels printer around 1800. He formed his collection in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It is known that he bought works on paper at the Hazard 1789 sale in Brussels. In 1839, Belgium acquired 14,318 prints from the van Parijs collection at a price of 15,000 florins. The drawings remained for a long time in the hands of his heirs. In 1853, a number of his objets d’art, coins, and medals were sold twice in 1853. His collector’s mark is seen below (Figs. 3 & 4).
