Description

Hecho a mano por Fonseca, este gabinete único ejemplifica la
expansión simbólica del universalismo constructivo realizada por los artistas
del TTG para satisfacer necesidades expresivas. El artista empleó formas
circulares y cónicas añadiendo dinamismo a la cuadrícula sugiriendo paisajes
montañosos. Combinó su propia iconografía marina con símbolos cósmicos del
Taller. A diferencia de las figuras rígidas de Torres García, las de Fonseca
son arredondadas con caras de máscaras que utilizan dos circulitos semejando
ojos separados por una tira vertical.

Inscriptions, Signatures and Marks
On the inside left corner of hood, the artist has carved his initials “GF” and the initials of Taller Torres-Garcia “TTG” (Fig. 9). The work is inscribed "1950" next to an hourglass shape on the side of the cabinet (Fig. 10).
