DescriptionThe scene on this cup depicts a view in Baltimore: the corner of Calver and Baltimore Streets with the Battle Monument in the distance. The monument, completed in 1825, commemorates the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812, which included the bombardment of Fort McHenry, the inspiration for The Star Spangled Banner.
