Although similar to (B.20.1), this chair is much simpler in its overall details. However, the columnar turning of the arm supports is distinctive. The single spindle-shaped side stretchers of this example place it closer to the Boston caned and leather-bottomed chairs, which were its prototype.
Technical notes: Soft maple (front legs, stretchers), birch (rear legs, front seat rail); ash (side and rear seat rails).

[1] Miss Hogg saw the chair in Adams’ New York studio in 1920, which was cited by her as the inspiration that led to the purchase of B.20.1 and began her Americana collection.
