New York became Goldin’s home in 1978. Working and living in a loft on the Bowery, Goldin became associated with the punk movement that flourished at such venues as CBGB and the Mudd Club, and her photographs of these years capture the after-hours mood of the downtown scene. Many of these photographs, including Vivienne in the green dress, NYC were later incorporated into other projects, including The Ballad of Sexual Dependency.
