DescriptionThe power to drive the mechanism of a bracket, or table, clock comes from a spring, rather than from weights that slowly descend. This mechanism made them more portable; many are equipped with handles to facilitate moving them from place to place. London clockmaker Jonathan Lowndes made this example.
Provenance[Needham Antiques, New York]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, July 1, 1959; given to MFAH, by 1966.
