Following her debut in 1969, Zandra Rhodes (b. 1940) revolutionized British fashion, drawing inspiration from world cultures, rock music, ballet, theater, and the streets of London. In 1984 her compatriot Derek Boshier (1937–2024) portrayed Rhodes during one of her many trunk shows at Houston’s Sakowitz department store, posed en pointe like a ballerina at curtain call, draped in one of her brilliantly patterned chiffon gowns, as ribbons and bows rain down upon her.
