ProvenanceIsmay Collection, Haselbech Hall, Northampton, U.K., c. 1918 [1]; [Henry Aldridge & Son Ltd, U.K., 2022]; [Paul Reeves, U.K., 2022]; purchased by MFAH, 2026.

[1] Charles Bower Ismay bought Haselbech Hall in 1908. He was the son of the owner of the White Star Shipping Line and brother of Bruce Ismay who was its Managing Director at the time of the sinking of the Titanic. The Hall burned in 1917 and was rebuilt. Family history says that it was typical of Bower Ismay to order extra fabric to reupholster chairs when needed.
