Description

In the decades immediately after the revolution, the Cuban flag was so omnipresent that it figured frequently in photographs celebrating the nation. When it reemerged as a subject 50 years later, it did so ironically, as in Yasser Piña Peña’s Eight Hundred Sixty-Two Elements Shaped Like a Flag. The 862 “elements” are one-peso coins lined up in a perfectly disciplined patriotic formation.
