Gabrielle Orozco’s work is difficult to categorize as it easily moves between photography, sculpture, and installation. In the artist’s hands, the camera is a tool to document his ephemeral sculptures and the unexpected beauty of found objects. Ex-Papaya is presented within the tight confines of a wooden box, highlighting the thin strips of papaya, hard lines of melon, and the circular sweetness of the seeds within. Orozco’s work invites the viewer to reconsider the beauty and artistry of the most humble elements.
