DescriptionWith standardized print and mount sizes, cabinet cards became a wildly popular format for photographic images in the late 19th century. Like their predecessors—cartes de visite—cabinet cards were produced in vast quantities by studios as both personal mementos and collectable images of celebrities and public figures. Featuring pages with decorative borders, this album is just one example of the numerous styles produced to appeal to collectors. The collector who assembled this album was likely interested in theater, as it primarily comprises portraits of actors including Fanny Davenport, Mary F. Scott Siddons, and Clara Morris.
