[1] Alexandre Cuvelier was a French painter (Saint-Omer, 1867-Paris, 1913).

[2] This title situates the painting in Cilhau, a small town, in southern France, near Carcassonne.

[3] In 2005, the work was loaned to the exhibition Le Néo-Impressionnisme: de Seurat à Paul Klee, [Paris: Musée d’Orsay (March 14-July 10, 2005)] by “Jean-Luc Baroni, Ltd, London.” Op. cit., see pp. 256-257 for text and illustration. The catalogue Achille Laugé, le point, la ligne, la lumière [Carcassonne: Musée des beaux arts (October 16, 2009-January 16, 2010; Limoux: Musée Petiet (October 17 October 2009-15 January 2010); Douai: Musée de la Charteuse (February 26-June 6, 2010)], an exhibition running from October 2009 until June 2010, lists the owner as Jean-Luc Baroni, London.
