DescriptionWhen Miss Ima Hogg purchased these ceramics in the early 1920s, she did so thinking that it had been produced by the Tucker China Factory of Philadelphia, which was active in the 1820s and 1830s. Tucker porcelain was one of her early collecting interests when she made a large purchase that included this tea service. Much of Tucker’s design inspiration came from contemporary French porcelain, so the confusion is not surprising.
Provenance[William B. Montague, Norristown, Pennsylvania]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, 1922; given to MFAH.
