DescriptionWhen Miss Ima Hogg purchased this set of plates the early 1920s, she did so thinking that the Tucker China Factory of Philadelphia had produced it, which was active in the 1820s and 1830s. Tucker porcelain was one of her early collecting interests when she made a large purchase that included this set. Much of Tucker’s design inspiration came from contemporary French porcelain, so the confusion is not surprising.
Provenance[William B. Montague, Norristown, Pennsylvania]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, 1922; given to MFAH, by 1966.
