DescriptionThis armchair, with its five-banister back and elaborately carved crest rail, represents a type that, with minor variations, was made throughout New England. The banisters repeat the turned profile of the stiles that frame them.
Provenance[Teina Baumstone, New York]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, 1954; given to MFAH, 1969.
