Object Type
A hybrid of photography, digital manipulation, and graphics,
Anderson & Low’s series Manga Dreams
takes its cue from a strain of contemporary youth culture’s costume,
hairstyle, and attitude inspired by Japanese comics and animation. Working
collaboratively with their subjects to re-create the archetypal characters found
in manga and anime, Anderson & Low were left asking themselves if the
phenomenon they witnessed on the streets of East Asia and harnessed
in their studio was art imitating life or life imitating art.
