Ivan Kafka (* 1952 v Praze)
1967 - 1971 studied at the Secondary Specialist School of Art in Prague.
1971 - 1972 underwent a year of practice as a wrought iron artist in Jihlava.
1974 - 1976 was a meteorologist in Prerov.
Since 1975 he has been involved in projects, installations and realizations for landscape, spaces and the city.
In the 1980s he participated in the organization of a series of unconventional art events, exhibitions and Samizdat (independent self-publishing) catalogues.
Since 1978 he has been a member of the loose formation "12/15 late, but nonetheless".
In 1990 he tutored at the International Summer Academy in Salzburg and achieved a stipend to the Pollock-Krasner in New York.
In 1994 he exhibited at the 22nd Biennale in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
In 1997 he represented the Czech Republic in the 47th Biennale in Venice, Italy and became a member of the Berlin Academie der Künste.
He has almost 100 realised works to his name, and has exhibited and carried out his work in many countries worldwide (Poland, Finland, Norway, Austria, Italy, Holland, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece, England, Croatia, Bosnia, Lithuania, Hungary, Sweden, Spain, Luxembourg, Brazil, Japan, Russia and the USA).
He has an ongoing interest in entomology, architecture and photography. He lives permanently in Prague.
