ALI GRES or Madame Gres, date of creation: 1934 In 1934, Fashion Designer Madame Gres opened her first small shop, ALIX, on Rue du Faubourg, Saint Honore in Paris. Her creations were exhibited at the 1939 International Exposition held in Paris and were awarded first prize.
In 1942, Madame Gres was made a member of the Legion d'honneur by the President of France.
In 1959, she debuted her perfume "Cabochard". The perfume was a great success on the market.
In 1973, she was elected chairman of the Syndicat de la Haute-Couture Parisienne.
In 1976, Mme. Gres was the recipient of the first De d'Or (Golden Thimble Award) and launched an accessories line.
In 1978, she showed her collection in Japan for the first time and entered the Japanese market.
In 1980, she held her first ready-to-wear show.
In 1990, aiming to develop the prestigious Gres image, the Maison Gres was moved to the Rue Saint Honore.
Madame Gres died in November 1993.
