Art: One of the 20th century’s great abstract ceramic sculptors, Zauli began his career as a potter in Faenza making elegant vases with superb modernist form. In the 1960’s, tearing apart one of these vessels, he sensed a new direction both organic and sculptural and began to make powerful sculpture glazed with his signature “Zauli white”, a foamy glaze that trapped carbon giving his work a blush of grey to black.Person TypePerson
