Biography" Karl Blossfeldt was born in 1865 in the city of Schielo in the Harz region of Germany. " From 1882-1885 apprenticeship as sculptor and modeler at the Eisenhüttenwerk Mägdesprung.
" From 1886-1890 study at the royal academy of arts and crafts in Berlin: modeling and painting. Simultaneous practical training in music.
" From 1891-1895 study abroad in Italy, Greece, and North Africa with Professor M. Meurer. Collection of plants. Begins to photograph.
" In 1896 return to Berlin. Lecturer in plant-modeling at royal academy of arts and crafts in Berlin.
" Around 1900 Karl Blossfeldt begins the systematic photographing of plants.
" Appointed to full professor. Further travel to Italy, Greece, Asia Minor, and North Africa.
" 1932 Karl Blossfeldt dies in Berlin shortly after retirement.
