DescriptionPotters in many regions of colonial America and the early United States made red-bodied earthenware from local clay. This beaker with elaborate applied decoration may have been made by John George Buehler, a German immigrant potter who worked in Leesport, Berks County, Pennsylvania, beginning in the 1840s until his death in 1887.
Provenance[Harry B. Hartman, House of Temple-Bar, Lumberville, Pennsylvania]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, October 17, 1964; given to MFAH.
