"CONVOY TO AFRICA, NOVEMBER, 1942 / File No: OOR-14035 December 7, 1942 / HEADED FOR HOME - Picked up by a destroyer after more than 60 hours adrift in his / seatpack boat, Lt. Comdr. J. T. Blackburn is transferred back to his carrier. He / existed on one canteen of water and the chamois skin lining of his helmet. The / officer told rescuers that if he had not been picked up, he expected at his speed / of one know an hour to reach land in three more days. The mishap occured during / the African expedition."
