DescriptionAn exhibition of photographs at the Clarence H. White School in New York inspired Anton Bruehl to leave his engineering career to pursue photography. Bruehl opened a commercial photography studio in New York in the 1920s and quickly gained a reputation for his fashion work and celebrity portraiture. One of the most recognizable stars of the 20th century, Marlene Dietrich began her film career in Berlin in the 1920s, but she rocketed to stardom through American films in the 1930s.
