Description

Individual images taken from pages of printed media can sit for years in Kenneth Beasley’s collection before being used for a work of art. This process separates each extracted image from its original source and the moment it was found, allowing it to be independently considered. For Beasley, each element of Bedfellow holds symbolic meaning: "The arm is an expression of warmth and structure or foundation of the bed. Folds in fabric . . . express entanglement, and are loaded with tension. The obelisk or stone column represents the cold lifelessness of a figure . . . the color red symbolizes drained life."
