DescriptionThe Texian Grand March is one of a handful of contemporary celebrations of events from the Texas Revolution. This sheet music cover portrays the moment when Sam Houston, his leg shattered by a bullet, receives Mexican commander Santa Anna from his field cot and accepts his surrender. Of course, this scene is imaginary—there being no artists present to record the events in person. The news from Texas was closely followed in the East and, in celebration of Houston’s victory Edwin Meyrick composed this stirring march.
