DescriptionThe view of Niagara Falls on this platter was likely adapted from a drawing by Jacques Gérard Milbert (1766–1840) in Itinéraire pittoresque du fleuve Hudson et des parties latérales de l'Amerique du Nord (Paris, 1828–29).

Provenance[Samuel H. Laidacker (1904–1994), Bristol, Pennsylvania]; purchased by Miss Ima Hogg, April 18, 1963; given to MFAH, by 1966.
