by melding together images from previous generations. Combining 8-mm film
strips made by his father at the 1961 Yankee vs. Cincinnati World Series with a
portrait of Sumo wrestlers from 1917 Osaka that includes the artist’s
grandfather, Nakagawa creates works that, in his words, “cross over the gaps
that exist between here and there, now and then, triggering one to visualize
their own past.”
